The 1999 Bar Conference (Saturday 9th October 1999) :
"Modern Bar : Strong Future" Bar Conference at The Queen Elizabeth II Conference, London.
The Lord Chancellor will deliver the keynote speech and this year's Conference will be preceded on Friday 8th October 1999 by a dinner at the Banqueting House, Whitehall Palace in honour of Gilbert Gray QC and Sydney Kentridge QC.
The practical workshops on Saturday will concentrate on the future of the profession - particularly the Young Bar - and on the fundamental changes facing us all : human rights, legal relations with the EU, direct access, the Woolf reforms, family law reforms and rights of audience - to mention just a few of the burning issues. The afternoon workshops will concentrate on substantive law and sessions on establishing and maintaining a practice at the Bar.
